Peoplemark
Welcome to Peoplemark, the People Development theme of Quality at Heart, the Regional Recognition Model for tourism, leisure and hospitality businesses in the Heart of England.
Why Peoplemark?
Excellent staff are key to success in business; no matter how impressive your internal processes, in your customers’ eyes, you are only as good as the person who represents you on the telephone or on the front desk.
Peoplemark puts your investment in your employees under the microscope, identifies areas for improvement, looks at ways to implement best practice solutions and recognises excellence. Look at the following statistics:
Staff turnover across the sector is 30%. This is equivalent of losing 590,640 people a year costing the sector £886m annually. If this rate continues, by 2012, 4,134,480 people will have been lost which will cost the sector £6.2bn*
61% of management vacancies are considered hard to fill – it is getting increasingly difficult to recruit skilled or experienced managers*

- Sound recruitment and retention procedures
The Peoplemark Levels of Recognition
Peoplemark Levels of Recognition have been specifically designed to give tourism, leisure and hospitality businesses and organisations in the Heart of England the chance to benchmark their performance against their competitors and to implement improvement methods where necessary. Organisations need to satisfy the Quality at Heart Standards theme and pay a commitment fee before working to achieve Peoplemark. There are written criteria for each level and these request the provision of certain information which acts as evidence in support of an application for recognition.
Recognition is given at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, reflecting the organisation’s achievements. A Quality at Heart Executive is on hand to help businesses through the process at every stage. This support is completely free of charge. For information on the recognition process, please go to the How do i achieve recognition page.
Which Level of Recognition?
Bronze
This level demonstrates a commitment to meeting and identifying the development needs of prospective employers and employees. Organisations at this level will identify and act upon the development needs established within the business.
Silver
A high level of employee development and a training structure is evident. Plans are already in place to improve standards and to attract employees with appropriate skills. Structured training and development opportunities are already commonplace.
Gold
This level indicates an organisation which has extremely high levels of development activity taking place and which works hard to attract employees with appropriate skills to the sector. It is regarded as an example of best practice for other organisations to follow and is instrumental in sharing best practice to raise standards.
When achieved the recognition levels above will act as a valuable marketing tool and will send a message to consumers that the organisation is committed to quality.
